Focused on providing a small number of clients with an unequal opportunity to to hunt these areas, for a variety of plains game, dangerous game, and small game & wing shooting. 2,000,000 acres

Across centered on property in the Hardhap region of Namibia

Ove the years, Jamy Traut and his family have amassed over 2 Million acres of huntable land across Namibia, from large community concessions and national parks, to their own private hunting grounds and surrounding farms. And in doing so, they've made unparallelled contributions towards the long term restoration and preservation of Namibia's wildest pieces of land, and the rare species that reside within it's bounds.

They take pride in a strong game management program across all of their concession areas and private land holdings, harvesting conservatively from the land, whilst ensuring that what is harvested provides the economic and nutritional sustenance for the communities they work with. It's part of the reason why species such as Elephants, Rhinos, Lions and Leopards are co-existing with people on working landscapes, to ensure that these species have a long and prosperous future in Namibia.

Some of their conservation contributions include......

  • Working with the Africat Foundation to monitor lion populations in the North-west of Namibia

  • Reintroducing a self sustaining and breeding herd of White Rhinos on their own private land holdings.

  • Dedicating money and man power to anti-poaching activities across the areas they guide clients, particularly in relation to Rhino and Elephant populations.

The Waterberg Plateau Park

Jamy Traut Safaris holds the exclusives outfitting rights to the expansive Waterberg Plateau park, home to the nation's only herd of Cape Buffalo south of the veterinary fence, as well as self sustaining herds of Black & White Rhino, Angolan Giraffe, Roan and Sable antelope, and a variety of other plains game. Additionally, a significant population of leopards reside in the 100,000+ acre area. The area is well known for it's expansive cape buffalo population (more than 500 animals in the area), regularly producing bulls with horns spreads of over 40 inches. All of this means that the park is a massive draw for hunters around the world, especially since it's so close to the capital.

Jamy's trauts operations plays an essential role in the funding and operation of the park. A large percentage of the trophy fees goes directly to the government, who uses it to pay for ranger salaries, patrol vehicles, and fence maintenance, all of which reduces the poaching risk for the parks inhabitants. It's been so successful that species like Buffalo, Rhino and Roan have recovered from historic lows in the 90's, to thriving populations where excess animals are relocated to other reserves.

Due to the limited supply of tags, it's important to express interest in Waterberg Plateau hunts well in advance. Hunts operate out of a luxury tented camp inside the parks boundary, so you'll get a real wilderness experince on this hunt.

Kaokoland Concessions

The Kaokoland region is home to the greatest expanse of connected wilderness in Namibia, home to free ranging populations of Desert Elephants, Black rhinos, Desert Lions, and giraffe. Jamy Traut Safaris has the exclusive hunting rights to 5 of the major community concessions in the region, including......

  • Ozondundu (184.094 acres & 390 residents)

  • Anabeb (387,955 acres & 1,562 residents)

  • Omatendeka (400,063 acres & 2,939 residents)

  • Ehirovipuka (489,268 acres & 1,346 residents

  • 5Th Block (unknown acres)

With a combined land area of over 2 Million acres and 8,000 residents, the area is remarkable for the sheer amount of wildlife living alongst rural communities. But for this to continue, operators such as Jamy Traut safaris are essential. Their hunting activities provides employment all year round (even when hunting season has ended), provides an enormous amount of game meat, and allows for dangerous individuals, such as rouge elephants to cattle eating lions, to be eliminated, with a significant portion of the hunting proceeds going towards offsetting the damages of wildlife on the local residents homes and livestock.

Jamy Traut Safaris offers hunting experiences for Elephants, Lions, Leopards, and a range of plains game like Hartmann's Mountain Zebra, Black-faced Impala (a Namibian endemic species), Gemsbok, Eland, Kudu and Giraffe. Permits of elephants, Lions and Leopards are limited, so booking early is a must.

Caprivi Concession

The Zambezi Strip (formerly the Caprivi strip) of Namibia is one most biodiverse regions of namibia. Situated between Angola, Botswana and Zimbabwe, it's a region surrounded by rivers that feel local wildlife, including some of the greatest densities of megafauna left on the planet.

Jamy Traut Safaris holds the hunting rights to the 37,000+ acre Mayuni Community Concession in Eastern end of the strip, right through where large herds of Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Red Lechwe, Reedbuck, Sitatunga and Hippo roam all year round.  All of this wildlife shares the landscape with around 2,700 people as well, so whilst it's a wild landscape, it offers visitors a real experience of rural life in the region.
